AND LEADER OF THE US OLYMPIC CHESS TEAM

Fall Semester Schedule: Sundays - Aug 20, 27, Sep 3, 10*, 17, 24, Oct 1, 22, 29, Nov 5, 12, 19*, Dec 3, 10 (14* classes)

*On September 10th and November 19th we will host the Chess Tournaments. BOTH GROUPS are expected to participate full 4 hours - from 2:00 to 6:00 pm! Based on the number of additional sign-ups, kids will be grouped into Quads (4-players) or small Sections (6 - 12 players). Children with USCF membership and rating will play in the rated sections. Beginners, who just want to get a taste of participating in the tournaments, will play in the unrated sections. There will be trophies and prizes!

My philosophy is to challenge kids through fast pace, very creative, yet highly organized and logical experience, that broadens their horizons, amazes them at what they are capable of and sets them off to explore and compete.

My goal is to help students develop critical thinking skills that they can utilize on the chess board and beyond, simultaneously preparing them to the States and National competitions.

Chess and Academic Achievements: Numerous studies have proven the benefit of chess in boosting academic achievements - http://chessandsciencefestival.com/docs/benefits_of_chess.pdf - and I strongly believe in it from my own experience - most of my students are taking Advanced Math, Reading and other subjects.

FALL 2017 semester:

Future Champions (Rating 700 - 1800) - 2 hours

Rising Stars (Under 700) - 75 min

What to expect:

Future Champions (Rating 700 - 1800)

This class will have 1 hour interactive lecture followed by a Game/25 min with 5 sec delay and homework assignment. Students are expected to play in the tournaments and take chess seriously. Parents involvement / support is required. The class will be fun, but the goal is to improve a lot in a short period of time and prepare for the Local, State and National Tournaments. Thus, students who misbehave, don't listen, don't do the homework or don't play in the tournaments might be expelled at my sole discretion, after the consultation with parents.

Rising Stars (Under 700)

Kids who are interested in learning chess the right way and don't know much as of yet are welcomed to this class. The class will concentrate on making the thoughtful moves, not just simply moving the pieces. Students will learn strategies and tactics, the geometry and math of the game, memory exercises and hone their problem solving skills.

Small Classes: Each class is limited to 10 students.

Family discount: Second and each additional student from the same family are offered $25 OFF family discount. Please pay the full price for the 1st child and pay $25 less for each additional child.
