| Notes/Terms: | GENERAL INFO - SECTIONS: Three Sections will be formed based on USCF rating. TROPHIES: Top 5 Trophies in each section. Participation trophies to all other players! In addition to trophies, there will be many science and chess prizes - enough for all the players! USCF Rated. Individual Swiss format with 4 rounds. Open to Women and Girls of all ages. Please arrive by 8:30 am or call / text / email to inform us of players that will not attend. Pairings are posted at 8:45 am. Announcements start at 8:55 am and 1st round begins at 9 am.
DEAR WOMEN & GIRLS PLAYERS, PARENTS and VISITORS, We look forward to hosting an exceptional event - 6th Annual Chess & Science Festival and Women & Girls Chess Tournament in Tucson, AZ. The event will take place at the FLANDRAU SCIENCE CENTER AND PLANETARIUM and is sponsored by the US Chess, Saint Louis Chess Club, Belakovskaia Chess Academy and University of Arizona Math Department. Our Annual Chess and Science Festival is also supported by many others - the Flandrau's staff, Mayor of Tucson, the University of Arizona College of Science, and various UA departments. There will be movie / shows throughout the day, various science exhibits and more. There will be a separate room for players and their families and to analyze the games. Families will have an opportunity to explore the museum, participate in the various chess and science activities, watch the movie and shows, and more...

"Meet the Trilobites" - UA Mineral Museum exhibit at Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium - http://www.uamineralmuseum.org/ 2. Simultaneous Chess exhibition for kids and adults by one of the top kids in Arizona in his age group. 4. Blitz games and free play for everyone. 5. Giant Garden Chess Set to play for fun outdoors. 6. Surprise movie 12. SPECIAL GUEST in 2015 - Planetary scientist Sarah Morrison. She is researching the orbital dynamics of solar systems (how planet orbits evolve over time, what exoplanet systems can tell us about our solar system, etc. - https://www.sciencenews.org/article/unseen-planets-sweep-dust-around-young-star ) and have explored Saturn's moons with the Cassini mission - will give a short interactive presentation and answer questions 13. Fractal Show and Asteroid: Mission Extreme show in the Planetarium and more... We will do our best to make 2019 Chess & Science Festival even better!
