Schedule: 4 Rounds SS, Round 1 at 9:30 AM, subsequent rounds a.s.a.p.

Byes: Half (1/2) point bye requests (1 maximum) are available for rounds: 1, 2, 3.
Zero (0) point bye requests are available for all rounds.
Byes must be requested prior to the start of round 1.

Notes/Terms:

One ½ point bye permitted in all but final round; must commit by end of registration.

Prizes: $200-$150-$100 to Top 3 players in Open. $100-$50 to Top 2 players in Reserve. Trophy to State Champion (Top CT player in Open) and Top 3 in Reserve. Prizes based on final placement on USCF tie breaks, NOT USCF distribution rules.

National Nominations: Overall top CT player in Open receives nomination to the US Chess Irwin Tournament of Champions (see National Nominations Rules & Information). 

Entry Fee: Open: $55 on or before 6 PM on April 29, online registration only. Reserve: $35 on or before 6 PM on April 29, online registration only. NO on site registration.

Non-Connecticut players welcome and fully prize eligible, except State Champion title/trophy and national nomination selection. Top placing Connecticut player in Open recognized as CT Champion, based on 2021 State Championship definition of “Connecticut player”.

US Chess and CSCA definition of “Senior” is age 50+.

This event is organized and sponsored by the CONNECTICUT STATE CHESS ASSOCIATION.

This is an official CSCA State Championship competition event to determine the 2022 Connecticut Senior Champion, as well as the Connecticut nominee to the US Chess Irwin Tournament of Champions.

COVID-19 Protocols  – No on-site registration. Advance registration only and space is limited. All players must wear masks in the playing area. All university COVID protocols will be observed.

ALL PARTICIPANTS: Please note the starting time of the different events. Please arrive early and check the Advanced Entry List to confirm registration.

Refunds/Cancellation Policy: If you cannot play in this event, you may withdraw by email to events.CSCA@gmail.com no later than 11:59 PM on April 28. Refunds must be requested by email. No withdrawals or refund requests by telephone. There are no refunds for No-Shows. Refunds are subject to a $15 fee processing charge.
