FAIR PLAY POLICIES

ChessKid expects all children and their families to abide by the fair play rules.
Both, the child and parent/guardian must agree to our Fair Play Policy when registering for the event.

Here's what you'll agree to when you register for the event:

  • ChessKid will conduct this event with the highest level of integrity and ethics. All players must play fairly and have good sportsmanship.
  • We strictly prohibit cheating of any kind. ChessKid will use its own algorithms to monitor games and will also manually analyze selected games at its discretion.
  • You must not get help from anyone or anything, including coaches, friends, parents, chess engines or other software of any kind.
  • You will also not have a phone, tablet or any other electronic devices in the same room.
  • You are only allowed to have one browser tab open and no other programs running on your computer. Violation of this rule is a "technical loss" and will be disqualified, with no chance of prizes.
  • You agree that ChessKid will make the final decision on any fair play issue.
  • If you violate ChessKid's Fair Play Policy, ChessKid will close your account and label it as having violated the Fair Play Policy.
  • If you are not willing to accept the above policies, you will not be allowed to play in the event.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

  • To allow the correct functioning of the competition, the players who participate will have to guarantee that they have access to a minimum of technological resources.
  • Special single-use tournament accounts will be created for all players.
  • The tournament will be open for kids to “join” the tournament about 30 minutes before the first round. If you try to join after the start time, you may not be able to play. You are required to 'join' before the tournament’s start time.
  • ChessKid strongly recommends playing on a laptop/desktop and not using a tablet, Chromebook or phone. The Wifi is usually stronger and the site works better with a computer. If you can connect to an Ethernet port, that's even better! The reality of playing online is that Wi-Fi glitches can affect your games, even to the best player!
  • Recommended browsers are Chrome, Firefox or Safari.
  • If you experience problems in the middle of your game, the first thing you should do is to ‘refresh’ your browser.
  • Two kids cannot play at the same time on the same device.
  • If you are having trouble logging in, joining the tournament, etc., we will offer a live help desk support 1 hour before the tournament starts.
For any questions about the event, please email us at tournaments@chesskid.com or ivette@chesskid.com.
