Notes/Terms:

Rds/Time: 5 Rounds SS G/15, no delay (5 games of 15 minutes per player per game for all).

Byes: One ½ point bye permitted in Rounds 1-4 ; 0 point byes permitted in any Round.

Sections: 2 sectionsOpen (US Chess rated for children pre-K to 12th grade); Reserve (not US Chess rated for children pre-K to 12th grade).

Prizes: Trophies to Top 5 in Open and Top 3 in Reserve; Medals to non-placing players; Team Trophies to Top 3 in Open and Top in Reserve (teams by school or established club).

Entry Fee: $35 by March 13; $50 by 8p March 17. Online registration, ONLY. On-site changes: $20 (cash exact change only).

Discounts: Norwalk Residents: FREE entry for Norwalk residents through March 13; $35 off thereafter. Norwalk residents please email name, address and school name to events.CSCA@gmail.com for registration instructions.

General DISCOUNTS: Students with financial hardship, attending Title I schools or requesting a sibling discount should email events.CSCA@gmail.com to request registration instructions.

CSCA Member Organization DISCOUNT: CSCA Member Organization schools will receive instructions to apply $15 membership discount to their students. Schools may apply for Member Organization status at any time by email to chess.CSCA@gmail.com.

This event is organized and sponsored by the CONNECTICUT STATE CHESS ASSOCIATION, REDBANDIT CHESS and NORWALK LIBRARY.

[2] Rating Supplement. March 2023 USCF Rating Suppl. used for section entry, pairings and prizes.

[3] Day of event. Chess sets will be provided. If you have a chess clock, please bring it with you. Organizer will have some additional clocks, but may not be enough for everyone.

We do not plan on taking a break during the event. Total play time is approximately 2.5 hours, and total event time is approximately 4 hours. Rounds will be paired as soon as all play in the prior round is complete. Approximate schedule by round is 10:30a, 11:15a, 12p, 12:40p, 1:20p. Award ceremony expected by 2p.

ALL PLAYERS PLAY 5 GAMES. This is not an elimination tournament.

ALL PARTICIPANTS: The library opens at 10a. Library café is open until 2p. Please arrive on time and check the Advanced Entry List to confirm your registration information.

[5] Refunds/Cancellation Policy: To withdraw registration or request a refund, email your request to events.CSCA@gmail.com no later than March 16 at 11:59 PM. Refund requests not received by email or received after the above deadline, will not be honored. Refunds are subject to $15 administrative fee.
