Connecticut Qualifier for USCF Irwin National Invitational Sponsored by the Connecticut State Chess Association Sunday, April 5, 2026 DAY 3, Connecticut Chess Festival Round 1 at 11:00 AM, then ASAP. Trinity College, Athletic Center Register online through April 4, onsite closes at 12 PM on April 5. All states welcome! Sec/Rds/TC/Byes: Open; 4 Rounds SS, G/45+10; One ½ point bye for Rds 1-3; 0 pt byes any round. USCF- and NE-rated (“Senior Player”: any individual 50 years and older). Prizes: $250-$150-$100; $100 to Top 65+. Trophies: CT Champion and CT 65+ Champion (see Note [1]), Top U1800, U1400, U1000 and Unrated. Tie break: Tie break on 4-0-0 ties: a) G/10+3 game; if drawn, b) G/3+2 game; if drawn, c) G/5/4+2 game. Seeding, color by USCF tiebreaks. Does not affect money prizes. Nationals: Connecticut Champion and runner up receive Nominee and Alternate status to the 2026 Irwin Tournament of Champions. See CSCA National Nominations Rules. Entry Fee: Register online: $65 by 3/31; $85 by 4/2; $105 by 4/4; $125 onsite by 12 PM. GMs/IMs FREE by 3/31, then from prizes. Standard CSCA discounts available. Notes: [1] Connecticut player: (a) any player whose state is designated Connecticut (“CT”) with U.S. Chess, or (b) any player who (i) resides, (ii) works or (iii) attends school in the state of Connecticut.
