Notes/Terms: | We will have three sections. U1000 and Open will be Rated and require a USCF Membership. These sections are open to all ages. (If either section has under 8 players, both sections will be combined into one section. We will also have a Beginner Section open to grades K-5 (Must have at least 6 entries to run this section). This is geared for kids who have never tried a tournament before. It should be made up of First time tournament players or possibly those who tried one when not ready and would like to try one now. We will still follow tournament rules and regulations but with the understanding that players are new so there will be some leniency in enforcement of rules as it is not rated. For example, if there is a claim of an illegal move, we won't enforce a clock penalty, etc. The rule itself will be enfoced but leniency will be given on penalties. The purpose is to give kids a chance to see what a tournament is like and not be mixed in with the more experienced players with higher expectations. If you have a question on this section, please email mcoy@sonoranschools.com. We will try to have some sets available to use for play and clocks will not be needed. If a game goes too long, the tournament director will place a clock to ensure some punctuality of round times. If players have a clock, they may use it for the round. Sonoran Science Academy is not responsible for players left unattended.
